Special Projects
We love to DESIGN WITH people. We can work over the phone or online. Best is in person with visual aids. At a show, maybe we’ll pull out a bunch of pieces with a feature or two that you like. In the shop, we can poke through the actual stacks of wood.
Then we combine the features and wood, sketching and erasing, till we sense that little tingle that says, “Stop now, you’ve got it!”
Usually I’ll interpret the customer’s desires and make up a pattern. Then Tom will find just the right piece of wood, place the pattern ‘just so’ to utilize the grain and cut it out. Most often, he’ll make the boards, I’ll make the utensils, and we both work on the vessels.
