Come Visit our Dusty Workshop!
What do YOU want to make?
In the New Year with the health of our world restored, we sincerely look forward to offering classes in our new, dream-come-true workshop at our off-the-grid homestead.
A Day in the Workshop -- a perfect day off to make some wooden pieces to take home or give away. The Day could be a gift to yourself, for a special friend, or a Family Day for 2 or 3 of you together (12 years and older only please). You can make a variety of items, or just focus on one amazing piece, it's up to you!
You’ll learn how to safely use our specialized power tools, and with guidance, customize your piece to fit your own hand, highlight a special spot in your home, or create a special gift.
We provide the proper safety gear for you; gloves, masks, and ear protection. You'll choose your very own beautiful chunk of New England hardwood from our stock to work with, and together we'll create a plan for your custom piece.
You might like to bring food to share during a break to refuel, or a favorite non-alcoholic beverage to stay hydrated. Sorry, alcohol is served only after all power tools are shut off!
Come have a fun experience and take home something special you’ve actually made yourself!

“Julia calls her spoon Little Spoony, and mine Mama Spoony! I still can't believe we actually made them… it was a memorable day. Thank you!!” |
Payment Schedule (Includes Materials)
Cost is based on the number of participants and amount of time needed. Please call for pricing.
It’s very hard to give time estimates. You’ll be working as we do in the shop: in batches using 1 tool and 1 grit of sandpaper for each person and each piece before moving on to the next tool or grit. |

A simple spatula (flat top, no scooped bowl) might take 45 minutes.
Same for a simple cutting board. Doing both items together will probably take around just over an hour to complete, so why not do both at once?
Two people making two spoons each with scooped bowls from scratch might take around 3 - 4 hours.
To talk about scheduling your day in the workshop, CALL ME at (860) 974-3504 or email me at [email protected]
**We will be happy to help you find local accommodations as well as other fun places
to visit in the Quiet Corner area of Connecticut!**

PS: I LOVE teaching! My goal is for everyone who comes here to gain an appreciation for handicraft of all sorts and to look at the daily objects in our world with new eyes. School programs start with 5th graders.
Explore our website www.mebskitchenwares.com for ideas. Spoons and Cutting Boards, of course—but just consider Salad Tongs, Pickle Forks, Trivets or Wine Bottle Stoppers! |
