Kidney
Donation
 |
Meb and Conni, the day after |
In 2007, I gave a much-needed kidney to my friend Conni. We’re both doing
well, working out our new lives! Now I’m hoping to raise awareness
of the great need for organ donation—97,000 people in this
country alone. Nineteen people are dying every day for lack of an
available organ! My surgery was laparoscopic, less invasive than for
donors in the past, so my recovery time was shorter.
I urge you all
to consider putting the organ donor sticker on your licenses (a different process in each state—in CT we just fill out a card at
the Dept. of Motor Vehicles and put a sticker on our licenses—so
easy!). Throughout this process, I’ve met many admirable people and
organizations dedicated to improving the lives of people in need and
heard numerous heartwarming stories about license stickers radically
changing lives.
Please
feel free to contact me (preferably by email) for more information,
get in touch with your motor vehicle bureau for a sticker and visit
the website www.organdonor.gov.
