BLADES |
|
Utensils with an edge. They won't get dull because they're not really sharp to begin with.
As with everything else on these pages, they're all made one at a time. And since Meb gets bored easily, they're each slightly different.
Cheese
Cheese is meant to be served at room temperature. However, these wooden knives will actually cut even hard cheese right out of the refrigerator. AND the wooden blades won’t scratch your pretty wooden board.
They’ll cut many other foods as well—here’s one of our grandsons mincing onions with a small one.

Counter Scraper
Natural edge: $24-30
Stained edge: $35
Both are 5" x 5"
Stand: $5, 4" x 1.5"
Helping hand for the chef or baker. A few years ago, when folks came into the booth requesting these, I thought “How silly! I just use the side of my knife.” But as soon as I used one, I was hooked. It’s such a handy tool for scooping LOTS of chopped vegetables into the soup pot, or sliding a pie crust or bread dough into place. The stand prevents drawer clutter, and keeps pretty wood grain in view. |

Large Spatula
$30-50, you choose width and handle length
A family favorite is lasagna-square size—first cut the squares and the arch in the handle makes these perfect for serving. Good for stovetop use as well. |
 |
Small Spatula
$24 and up
11" x 13"
Right or Left-handed. A wonderful little server. Use your imagination!
Straight handle: With no angle to the blade edge, this is a great choice for serving brownies from the pan. |
 |
Pastry Server
$30 and up,
2.5 to 3" x 10 to 12.5"
Some have Left- or Right-minded handles, some are straight-handled. They are bladed on both sides, so they’re ambidextrous and good for cutting and serving cakes of all sorts—especially wedding cakes. As to pies—these work best for a bottom crust pie—I’d suggest a thin metal blade for cutting through a puffy top crust—then serve with the pretty wooden piece. And, since they’re actually CARVED, not flat, they fit the swoop of your pie plate. |
